ANTIWRINKLE INJECTIONS - BOTULINUM TOXIN (BOTOX)

Wrinkle relaxing treatments involve injection of botulinum toxin into target muscles of the face to temporarily help them to relax. These muscles are prevented from contracting and in turn reduce and soften the lines and wrinkles caused by facial expression and the lines around the neck.

 

Treatment can be used to reduce lines and wrinkles on the forehead and around eyes. 

Botulinum Toxin can be used to treat the masseter muscles involved in grinding and clenching teeth which can help relieve the symptoms from TMJ problems. We always assess the patient to ensure the treatment is complimentary with any dental concerns, assess if they need a mouthguard or correction of occlusal teeth issues and also ascertain if they would like to book a further dental consultation.

 

Some people feel that when they smile they show too much of their gums and this is often referred to as a ‘gummy smile’ and their upper lip elevates too far above their upper teeth, exposing gums and producing an unattractive smile. One of the causes is a hyperactive muscle which elevates the upper lip. A thin upper lip can further contribute to exposing more gum. Fortunately at our clinic we can treat gummy smile effectively with Botulinum Toxin injections to reduce the activity of the muscle that elevates the upper lip.

The Botulinum Toxin injections involve very small injections and treatments can be completed within minutes.

Treatment lasts up to 4 months and regular treatments can prolong the interval time between treatments.

DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING

The Dermapen® is an automated micro-needling device with a disposable tip cartridge that is made up of 12 micro-needles, which uses proprietary technology to penetrate vertically into the skin. The stamping action of the Dermapen’s vertical tip creates invisible micro-injuries to the skin, while stimulating the skin’s natural ability to heal itself and increase the production of new collagen. In doing so, these micro-injuries encourage and harness the body’s innate ability to regrow and repair the skin through normal physiological processes and the skin becomes rejuvenated and refreshed.

Microneedling treatment has 2 key benefits. It effectively stimulates collagen formation and provides a clear channel for topical serums and active ingredients to be absorbed through the surface of the skin.
